The University of Medicine and Health Sciences (UMHS) School of Medicine located on the beautiful Caribbean island of St. Kitts is seeking a unique individual who is trained and experienced Biologist to carry out all duties and responsibilities as Professor of Molecular Sciences.
RESPONSIBILITES
In general, Responsibilities include (but are not limited to), responsibility for teaching Cell and Molecular Biology, which includes responsibility for class instruction, production of course syllabi, examinations and grading of the students, and proctoring of exams, with specific daily duties to be determined by the Employee, the Chair of the Departments, the Course Director, and the Dean of Basic Sciences. As Professor the reporting authority is the Departmental Chair and ultimately to the Dean of Basic Sciences. Employee will also serve from time to time on several of the standing and ad hoc committees of the University and must attend all called University meetings. The Employee will be available to students for regular scheduled office hours on the Campus for purposes of academic counseling.
Minimum Qualifications
About UMHS:UMHS offers a traditional four-year Allopathic Doctor of Medicine program leading to the M.D. degree. The university operates year round and offers three semesters per calendar year which start in January, May, and September. Students complete the Basic Science Program at our state-of-the-art campus in St Kitts. The fifth semester occurs at the UMHS campus in Portland, Maine. Students complete their third year of core clinical rotations and fourth year of elective rotations in one of our many affiliated, accredited teaching hospitals throughout the United States. To graduate, students must successfully complete the UMHS medical program and pass the USMLE Step1, Step 2 CK and Step 2 CS. UMHS graduates are eligible to apply for a US or Canadian residency and subsequently may practice medicine in the United States and Canada. UMHS utilizes innovative teaching techniques such as a 24-bed virtual hospital, small class sizes with individualized attention, and the use of technology to enhance instruction.
The faculty is highly credentialed and recruited primarily from the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. UMHS is fully accredited by the St. Kitts/Nevis Accreditation Board as well as the Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine (ACCM). These accreditation standards have been determined by the US Department of Education to be comparable to those of the Liaison Committee on Medical Education which is the accrediting body for US medical schools.
