The Portfolio of the Civil Service on behalf of Her Excellency (HE) the Governor invites applications for the post of:

 Auditor General (Cayman Islands)

Office of the Auditor General (OAG)

 Salary Range: CI$163,164 - $189,204 per annum /US$194,243 - $225,243

 

Working within an independent office, the Auditor General has a constitutional mandate to “audit the public accounts of the Cayman Islands and the accounts and financial dealings of all authorities, offices and departments of Government and all courts, and the power to undertake value for money investigations in respect of the activities of such authorities, offices and departments.”

The Auditor General is appointed by HE the Governor and is accountable to Parliament for monitoring and reporting the performance of the government and government agencies, and for promoting the efficiency, effectiveness and accountability of the Government. The client portfolio covers annual public sector revenues and expenditures of around $1 billion and gross assets of approximately $2.7 billion.

The successful candidate will:

  • Serves as a Chief Officer in leading a staff complement of 28 in the delivery of services and performance targets;
  • Ensure the OAG’s audit practices comply with international professional standards, and that the policies and methodologies adopted by the OAG reflect current best practices; and
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders and build effective relationships, to enable the development and delivery of the OAG’s strategy and work.

The successful candidate must:

  • Possess at least 10 years’ of senior audit management experience;
  • Be a qualified member in good standing with an appropriate professional accounting body (CA, ACCA, CPA, CIPFA) with at least 15 years post-qualification experience. This experience should include audit experience within the public sector;
  • Be result-oriented and self-driven;
  • Be an excellent communicator;
  • Have a high level of interpersonal, influencing and diplomacy skills; and
  • Have strong analytical, leadership and problem-solving skills.

Benefits will be determined in accordance with the Public Service Management Act and Personnel Regulations, the Public Service Pensions Act and the CINICO Health Plan. Pension (at 12%) and health benefits are non-contributory.
