ASSISTANT MANAGER - KENNEL DEPARTMENT

Main Purpose of Job

Assisting the Manager to oversee and ensure the smooth running and operation of the Kennel Department by supervising and provideing direction to staff, organizing and managing work processes and the provision and direction to staff.

Qualification & Experience
  • Associate Degree in Veterinary Science / Animal Husbandry; or equivalent combination of experience and education;
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a similar capacity;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc..

Knowledge & Skills Required
  • Sound judgment and strong interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent oral and written skills;
  • Strong organizational and record management skills;
  • Keen attention to detail;
  • Flexible availability and ability to adjust schedule as needed;
  • Ability to work well with others and create a positive partnership with all stakeholders;
  • Ability to stay calm in busy and stressful situations;
  • Ability to maintain a positive and upbeat attitude.

Key Activities & Responsibilities
The incumbent is expected to assist with carrying out the following:
  • Supervising and monitoring Kennel Assistants and Canine vehicle drivers’ duties;
  • Managing and monitoring canine locations and special assignments;
  • Maintaining timekeeping, overtime and personnel records;
  • Supervising animals as well as the cages;
  • Keeping up to date canine records;
  • Carrying out dressings and medication as necessary;
  • Performing out of town visits, if necessary, to check other kennel locations;
  • Performing any other reasonable duties related to the department that may be required.
