We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to support financial operations including data entry, invoice processing, reconciliations, and general ledger updates, while ensuring accurate record-keeping and assisting with reporting and payroll tasks.
Liaise daily with the Director to communicate updates, handle requests, and execute assigned tasks
Coordinate with bank managers regarding account transactions and banking correspondence
Manage document flow by reviewing records for accuracy and compliance with company policies
Prepare business correspondence and maintain key reports for the Director, including:
Daily Cheque Log
Deposit Tracking/Bank Balances
Monthly Income & Expense Reports
Yearly Financial Statements
Review and reconcile balance sheet and expense accounts for accuracy
Compile and forward general ledger data for VAT calculations
Process online bill payments and inter-account transfers
Prepare and disburse monthly payroll, including payslip distribution and Peachtree journal entries
Verify accuracy of weekly payroll hours in Micropay and post payroll to employees’ accounts
Ensure timely preparation and payment of statutory taxes: Green Fund Levy, Business Levy, Corporation Tax, NIS, HSG, PAYE, Director’s Taxes
Coordinate driver for delivery of statutory payments and bill settlements
Receive and address customer complaints via phone or email, collaborating with staff as needed
Provide administrative support to the Office Manager and act as relief in their absence
Assist with office administration and accounting tasks as needed
Maintain accurate filing systems
Five (5) CSEC passes, including English, Mathematics, and Principles of Accounts
ACCA Level 2 or equivalent
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar role
Working knowledge of Peachtree Accounting Software and MicroPay Software is a plus
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy in task performance
In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and systems
