To assist with the preparation and review of financial statements associated reports and analyses which support sound decision-making and adherence to financial reporting, tax and other applicable regulations.

ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT

Job Purpose:

To assist with the preparation and review of financial statements associated reports and analyses which support sound decision-making and adherence to financial reporting, tax and other applicable regulations, while ensuring that the needs of internal and external stakeholders of the Company are adequately met.

Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Detailed review of expenses prior to month end close-off for accruals, prepayments, re-billings or re-classes to enable a quicker turnaround of month-end reports
  • Daily posting of journals, cash receipts, AP etc. to facilitate preparation of the financials by the 1st working day
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring adjusting entries are accurately and timely prepared for review and posted in the general ledger by stipulated due dates monthly or quarterly.
  • Review  bank reconciliations monthly by the 6th working day of the following month and follow up to ensure that reconciling items are cleared in no more than one month
  • Review of  account reconciliations to ensure reasonableness, completeness and accuracy of reported values, as well as ensuring adjusting entries accurately prepared and posted in the general ledger in a timely manner by the stipulated due dates monthly or quarterly
  • Prepare intercompany related reconciliations to ensure reasonableness, completeness and accuracy of reported values, as well as ensuring adjusting entries accurately prepared and posted in the general ledger in a timely manner by the stipulated due dates monthly or quarterly.
  • Prepare timely rebilling debit notes to related parties and follow up for payments and remittances to facilitate monthly intercompany confirmation for Group reporting.
  • Prepare monthly Expenses Recoverable Reconciliations by 6th working day of the following month and follow up with divisions on the collectability of the debit notes and provisional values, items greater than 90 days should be escalated for possible write off. 
  • Prepare Advertising spend by brand Reports monthly by the 15th working day of the following month and follow up with divisions on the accuracy of the total rebilled to suppliers and net ASBT spend.
  • Identify all overspends in the monthly report for Divisional review and feedback
  • Assist with the preparation of periodic Central Bank reports for circulation to relevant authorities
  • Assist with of all tax-related audits (VAT or BIR)
  • Assist with the preparation of Financial Year End Audit schedules and files
  • Assist with obtaining the bank and loan confirmations for external audit purposes
  • Assists with the preparation of IFRS compliant Financial Statements with explanatory notes for year-end statutory audits and related reporting
  • Assist in the preparation of IFRS 9 computation by deadline date
  • Assist in the preparation of IFRS 16 computation by deadline date
  • Assist with the preparation of bi-monthly VAT returns and supporting schedules, ensuring VAT accurately calculated and relevant submitted to the revenue and paid on time
  • Assist with the calculation of quarterly Corporation tax and Green Fund levy remittances and preparation of related payments to statutory bodies by the due date
  • Assists with relevant analysis and preparation of the annual Operating Budget including for submission by the due date.
  • Prepare account analyses as required to support the budget process by the due dates

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Completed ACCA Level II and pursuing Level III or a similar accounting qualification
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience with integrated Accounting software package(s)
  • Experience in External Audit will be an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
