About the role
The Assistant Accountant will be responsible for the administration of local creditors and providing first level support for external auditors.
Key responsibilities:
Processing and paying local suppliers.
Analyse balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
Preparation of monthly expense report.
Reconcile vendor accounts.
Receive and verify invoices and requisitions for goods and services, record local vendor invoices along with scanning invoices to GP, issue online payments and communicate with vendors.
Coordinate month-end close, post and reconcile sub-ledgers and general ledgers for local accounts payables and inventory.
Prepare and enter journals.
Responsible for the preparation of weekly cash flow.
Disburse and reconcile cash for business travel.
Provide documentation, analysis and answer local payables and inventory related questions during the year-end audit.
Process staff expense claim forms.
Coordinate Inventory Counts. Prepare variance analysis and investigate differences.
Bank Reconciliation.
Credit Card Reconciliation.
Bank Deposits.
Coordinate bank reference letters and bonds for bids.
Ensure timely payment of monthly and quarterly taxes – (PAYE, NIS, HS, VAT and Corp Tax)
Maintain proper filing records for area of work – Electronic & Physical as applicable.
Key qualifications and experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or ACCA Level 2 Certification
Minimum of 2 years Accounts Payable experience
Experience with Microsoft Great Plains would be considered an asset
Basic knowledge of Accounting principles, theories and concepts
Key attributes
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
Basic analytical skills with the ability to identify issues
High level of attention to detail and quality
Excellent time management, organizational and prioritization skills
Ability to operate with little instruction on routine work and general instructions on new assignments
Self-motivated and strong problem-solving abilities
Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
