The Assistant Accountant’s primary responsibility is to assist with the analysis of financial information and preparation of financial reports.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Current enrolment in or completion of a recoognized accounting designation
  • A minimum of two (2) consuctive years of practical accounting experience would be an asset
  • strong command of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Strong command of Sage or other accounting software

  • Deadline-driven with the ability to self-manage admist of conflicting deadline

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries as well as accounting data entries
  • Assists in the preparation of internal accounts for use in financial statements and management reports
  • Assists with the preparation of cash flow statements and tracking cash balances as required
  • Provide reconciliations to Management on time
  • Assists with the preparation of weekly and monthly payrolls as necessary
  • Assists with the preparation of monthly expense reports and supporting schedules
  • Assists with the preparation of all bank reconciliations and supporting schedules, working papers, and other reconciliations as requested
  • Assists with the annual stock count
  • Preparation of the daily bank deposit
  • Prepare cheques for approval and sign-off by management
  • Overseeing the daily management and reconciliation of petty cash balances regularly to ensure compliance with company policies
  • Generate and compile end-of-day reports, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery as required
  • Timely preparation of all Government deductions as well as monthly VAT/refund claims
  • Assisting in the preparation of all legislative returns (PAYE and NIS) on time
  • Establish and maintain an effective system of communication with customers and vendors
  • Perform any other reasonable and related duties as delegated from time to time by Management
