ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT

The Assistant Accountant will contribute to the development and implementation of the departmental accounting systems, policies and procedures. Support the department through the collection, processing, recording, reconciliation and reporting of financial data, verifying the validity, completeness and accuracy of source documentation. Maintains complete and proper records, accuracy, and integrity of financial information.

Job Summary:

    • Organisation, Coordination and Supervision of Management of Accounting Software
    • Preparation of Monthly Management Accounts and Departmental Reports
    • Preparation, Presentation and the Monitoring of Budgets, Cash Flows and Variance Reports
    • Ensuring compliance with financial reporting and other standard accounting procedures
    • Preparation of financial schedules required by external auditors
    • Assist external auditors in the conduct of annual audits as required
    • Review and ensure timely tax and VAT remittances
    • Preparation/Maintenance of Investment Schedules
    • Review of Reconciliation of Banks, Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payable
    • Verification of Cheque Payments
    • Reconciliation and reporting of Vouchers system
    • Preparation /Review of monthly fixed asset register
    • Any other tasks as deemed necessary

Required Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of the Accounting Department workflow including AP, AR and Bank
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning financial data
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Good communication skills both in verbal and written
  • Strong reasoning and decision-making skills
  • Excellent organizational skills

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Level 2 ACCA qualified or equivalent with at least three (3) years progressive accounting experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Proficiency in MS Office i.e. Excel, Word and Outlook
