The company has a full surgery suite with two operating theatres ,
A) Ophthalmology, oculoplastics and Dermatology
B) Orthopedics
An experienced and dedicated anesthesiologist is required to work,together with the anesthesia nurse and the nursing team and doctors to provide a first rate service in the surgery fields designated above.
There is also the opportunity to become involved in both an iv nutrient clinic and a wound clinic, both functioning with other clinics in the same Medical facility.
Ready Availability of all documents to achieve a St Lucian Medical License is essential. Good written and spoken English is vital.

Job Description
- Evaluate patients and document the pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient
- Determine risk during medical procedures by taking medical histories, examining patients and ordering diagnostic procedures such as x-rays and laboratory tests
- Coordinate with doctors, nurse staff, and other health care professionals
- Manage anesthesiological services and coordinate with other professionals to formulate procedures and plans
- Direct the duties of medical technicians, nurses and other healthcare support staff
- Educate the patient on the surgery and recovery prior to the procedure
- Select, obtain and administer the anesthetic plan of care, including induction, maintenance and emergency phase anesthesia
- Use intravenous, local, caudal or spinal methods to administer sedation or pain medications during surgical and other medical procedures
- Review schedule and administer the appropriate dosage of anesthesia during procedures
- Supervise patients and monitor their pain medications before, during and after surgery
- Offset adverse complications or reactions
- Record amount and type of anesthesia as well as the patients' conditions throughout procedures
- Complete records of type and amount of anesthesia, patient condition, patient response and medical histories
- Maintain anesthesia at appropriate levels during surgery; administer no more than one anesthetic at a time
- Support life functions during the administration of anesthesia
- Work in a safe manner with constant state of alertness
- Recognize alterations in physiologic responses to the surgical procedure and/or the anesthetic
- Provide professional observation and resuscitative care until the patient has regained control of his vital function
- Provide other forms of emergency patient care as needed
- Assess patient recovery and removal to another room following surgery
- Record all pertinent data on the anesthesia record
- Educate patients and families on post-procedure care and possible complications
- Instruct on different ways to prevent disease and improve health
- Inform the nursing team of patient's condition and any expected problems
- Follow established infection control guidelines and report safety hazards for immediate resolution
- Perform other duties as assigned
