Aircraft Avionics Engineer – Trinidad & Tobago

JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Director of Maintenance, work with or without supervision performing all avionics tasks such as installations, removals, inspections and repairs to avionics/electrical systems on PHI Americas Ltd and customers’ aircraft within safe/legal guidelines, TTCAA regulations, company policies/procedures and manufacturer’s specifications directives and company directives. When required, work away from the repair station performing the activities listed above; sign aircraft logs and other documents assuming full responsibility for the work done by himself and others under his supervision. May provide technical assistance and on-the-job training to other mechanics. Perform simple clerical duties. Provide direct supervision to unlicensed mechanics working on aircraft.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance, removals and installation, troubleshooting and repairs, inspections and operational test of the avionics and electrical system on company and customers’ aircraft.
  • Analyze the repair, removal and installation of avionics related systems in company and customer’s aircraft and keep maintenance lead informed of status.
  • Compile data from discrepancies and take necessary actions to reconcile the discrepancy.
  • Perform all tasks using current test procedures, drawings, manuals and Instructions for Continuous Airworthiness (ICA).
  • Responsible for completing and submitting all required documentations such as technical logs, logbooks, inspection forms and compliance forms.
  • Under the direction of the Maintenance Lead, coordinate tasks requiring the involvement of others to assure effective and safe job accomplishments.
  • Initiate parts and equipment ordering for assigned task. Update Maintenance Lead upon ordering and receiving parts and equipment.
  • Determine the status of components (serviceable, unserviceable, due inspection, etc) and route to applicable destination.
  • Perform inspections as responsible person as required.
  • Keep Maintenance Lead and Director of Maintenance apprised of any unusual circumstances.
  • Keep work area clean and orderly.
  • Responsible for supporting company Safety Management System activities.
  • Comply with company HS&E policies and procedures.
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Degree, Diploma or Certificate in the relevant field.
  • TTCAA Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s License in the following categories- Navigation and Communications, Rotorcraft Auto Pilot, Instruments, Electrical, Instruments, Compass and Pulse Radar.
  • Basic avionics and electrical skills preferred.
  • F.A.A. Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) License will be an asset.
  • At least two (2) years of Maintenance experience as a Certifying Engineer.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Must be willing to adopt and adhere to all company safety protocols in the working environment.
