Accounts Payable Officer

JOB SUMMARY:

The Accounts Payables Officer is required to provide clerical and technical operational support for the Accounting Department. The incumbent must maintain accurate records and process invoices and payments, type reports, and key data into a general ledger computer system. Flexibility and a willingness to perform a variety of support tasks are essential to success in this position.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that invoices are entered to correct accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoices, recording entries and processing payment timely.
  • Prepare monthly supplier reconciliation and investigate and resolve differences timely.
  • Resolves payment-related issues with internal and external customers.
  • Prepare journal entries for month-end accruals and adjustments.
  • Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports.
  • Pays invoice-paid employees by receiving and verifying expense reports and preparing cheques.
  • Assist with the annual financial audit and internal audits.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly audit schedules.
  • Conduct projects or ad hoc assignments as required.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Diploma in Accounting/ Finance
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the field of accounting and all aspects of accounting procedures, preferably accounts payable.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Oracle and Microsoft Suite.  

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Skill in analyzing and interpreting financial data.
  • Excellent time management and data handling skills.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of accounting and finance.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
