The Accounts Payable Accountant administers payments to all suppliers and payroll staff are updated accurately and timely reflecting the company’s liability for goods and services.

 

Major Responsibilities

 

Scope:  The Accounts Payable Accountant must play an integral role in:

 

  • Direct all Accounts Payables functions and ensure that all transactions are recorded accurately and timely in accordance with company’s policy and sound accounting practice.
  • Prepare monthly accruals and reversals for approval based the approval matrix.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team in the monthly review of the open PO (in advance of the month-end) to ensure that critical obligations are identified/follow up with the respective departments.
  • Conduct Balance Sheet and General Ledger reviews and review reconciliations by agreed GLOM deadline including the schedule of accruals.
  • Support the month end closure for WD3 deadline
  • Responsible for preparing the weekly AP cash flows for suppliers taking into account timing differences and likely outcomes.
  • Ensure suppliers statements are reviewed weekly and reconciled monthly and quarterly.
  • Communicate with the vendors to ensure payments are processed and scheduled on time
  • Ensure weekly cheque runs prior to disbursements and follow with Treasury to ensure that the payments are done on time.
  • Ensure that all invoices are approved and coded accurately
  • Ensure compliance with all established control procedures
  • Collaborate with other business units as well as procurement to resolve match variances and other related issues
  • Safeguard the integrity of all payment systems (supplier ) by enforcing and constantly reviewing controls and reporting on it
  • Resolve internal and external payment issues and General Ledger matters when issues are escalated
  • Prepare monthly accounts payable ageing report
  • Perform any other related duties assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

 

 

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in supervisory position
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business nor related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft (Excel, Word)
  • Ability to communicate proficiently at all levels and maintain excellent customer relations
