Our Organisation is seeking qualified Trinidad nationals to fill the position of ‘Accounts Officer II’.

Candidates would be required to:

  • Assists in the budget preparation process;
  • Prepares vouchers and voucher listings;
  • Issues petty cash and redeems petty cash vouchers;
  • Ensures compliance with BIR re: review and filing of TD1 forms by all members of staff and preparation of TD4 slips annually;
  • Prepares monthly payroll and relevant supporting documentation for bank and other deductions;
  • Maintains general ledger, pay record cards, and prepares monthly statement of accounts and trial balance;
  • Performs required bank transactions, reimbursement of Petty Cash and payment of statutory deductions and utility bills;
  • Prepares bank reconciliation statements;
  • Prepare and posts adjusted Journal entries;
  • Prepare cheques in accordance with approved cheque listing;
  • Maintains fixed asset register;
  • Verifies information received from HR Department re: contracts, vacation, further sick leave and maternity leave, gratuity payments, resumption of duty and other related matters;
  • Prepare correspondence in relation to financial statements, Letters to BIR, NIB, reports, memoranda etc.;
  • Complete employees’ National Insurance claims;
  • Perform all other related duties.

Candidates would be required to have:

  • Extensive knowledge of accounting and payroll software, including Peachtree;
  • Working knowledge of public sector accounting processes and procedures;
  • Knowledge of record keeping systems;
  • Knowledge of the Audit and Exchequer Act and accounting procedures.

 

Successful candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/ACCA Level II or equivalent qualification;
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in an accounting environment
  • Experience in a computerized accounting environment
