Effectively supervise and manage the Finance and Accounting functions of the department to meet the required deadlines. Preparation of monthly management accounts and other financial reports for submission to the Chief Financial Officer

Responsibilities of the position
  • Continuous monitoring of policies and procedures to ensure adherence and make recommendations for improvement
  • Preparation of consolidated management accounts for submission to the CFO for further review.
  • Assist with the budgeting process to ensure deliverables are met
  • Supervision and development of the accounts team and its functions (payroll, invoicing, receivables, payables and management of financial data)
  • Ensuring compliance with all financial reporting and control requirements
  • Ensuring compliance with all statutory and stock exchange requirements including filing of monthly and annual Tax Returns, quarterly financial statements etc.
  • Ensure the accuracy of financial data
  • Generating and presenting monthly Financials
  • Control and preservation of organization's assets
  • Ensure adequate monitoring mechanisms and internal controls to track performance and manage risk
  • Lead the processes for efficiency and cost management
  • Continuous review and monitoring of business risks
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure that assignments are completed on time.

Qualification/Educational and other Requirements

  • Completion of ACCA or CPA or equivalent qualification from a recognized professional body or tertiary institution.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience at the supervisory or management level.
  • Sound knowledge of financial industry, financial accounting practices and standards in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Excellent communication skills (English Language) both written and oral
  • Basic computer literacy skills
  • Must be flexible and willing to adapt to changes quick.
  • An open and consultative team building approach that cultivates a sound infrastructure of support
  • A combination of strong business acumen, technical and operational knowledge and recognized integrity
  • Technology savvy and current with sound project management and decision making skills, with a reputation for getting things done.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact credibly and comfortably at all levels
