POSITION SUMMARY:

As the Accounts Clerk for this growing and dynamic Company the primary objectives are to provide accounts payable and general accounting support, particularly:

  • Accounts Payable and related activities
  • General Ledger accounting and related activities
  • Support in other finance and administrative functions

 PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES / KEY FUNCTIONS:

  • Review all payable invoices to ensure accuracy and correctness, ensuring all are appropriately approved, in a timely manner before processing
  • Matching of all payable invoices to purchase orders, goods receipt notes, service entry/receipts and delivery notes upon entry and processing
  • Process and pay all invoices on a timely manner and as set out by the organization’s KPI’s, ensuring all vouchers and payment documents are properly completed and approved
  • Follow up and rectify all discrepancies related to invoice processing with vendors and internal stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Completing vendor reconciliations on an ongoing basis as per KPI’s
  • Review, analyze, process and prepare payments for staff expense reports relating to business and travel expenses
  • Follow up on the return of foreign travel reports as per foreign travel procedure
  • Process all customs and shipping documents, reconcile and reimburse in a timely manner
  • Complete general ledger accounts and sub-ledger account, reconciliations as required
  • Assist in preparing month-end journal entries as required
  • Assist in updating and maintaining accounting schedules by required deadline
  • Assist in periodic close process as required
  • Complete bank reconciliations and periodic cash reports by required deadline
  • Assist in computing and submitting various statutory taxes, VAT, withholding taxes, business & green fund levy and any other related taxes
  • Provide support as necessary in administrative functions, administer by the finance department to the company
  • Ensures all prints, files, statutory and related accounting reports and records are properly and adequately filed for easy reference and retrieval on a timely basis, also ensuring workspace is kept neat and tidy
  • Work with Management Team and other staff members to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the Company
  • Comply with all policies, procedures and HSSE requirements as set out by the company
  • Performs and provides support in assigned accounting functions as required, such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, general ledger and administrative functions. Perform any other related job functions as required

 EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION:

  • Minimum of ACCA Level II or BSc. in Accounting
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a similar field

 SKILLS / COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and prioritize in a fast-paced, high performance work environment, taking and completing directives as required
  • Ability to perform arithmetic computations accurately and quickly; to communicate effectively, to establish successful working relationships and to work under pressure and/or frequent interruptions
  • Proactive and solution-oriented nature in rectifying and resolving discrepancies and processing issues
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of statutory taxes
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP, Maximo or similar ERP accounting software
  • Experience with Accounts Payable processes and practices
  • Ability to demonstrate the highest level of confidentiality and trustworthiness
  • Ability to meet deadlines
