Job Description: Accounting Associate 

Position Title: Accounting Associate
Location: Hybrid
Reports To: Accounting Manager
Employment Type: Full-time
Salary: $9,000 to $12,000 (based on experience)

Role Overview:

The Accounting Associate will play a key role in supporting the accounting team by assisting with financial reporting, bookkeeping, tax compliance, and client interactions. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Accounting:

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with IFRS/GAAP.

  • Support the preparation of management reports with key financial insights.

  • Ensure the accuracy of general ledger accounts through reconciliations.

  • Process journal entries and adjustments as required.

Bookkeeping & Data Management:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records for clients.

  • Process and review accounts payable and receivable transactions.

  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.

  • Assist with payroll processing and related reconciliations.

Client Support & Relationship Management:

  • Serve as a point of contact for client inquiries related to accounting and bookkeeping.

  • Assist in gathering financial data and documentation from clients.

  • Provide support during client meetings by preparing financial reports and summaries.

Tax Compliance & Regulatory Reporting:

  • Prepare VAT, payroll tax, and other statutory filings as required.

  • Assist in the preparation of Corporation Tax and Income Tax returns.

  • Stay up to date with tax regulations and compliance requirements.


Team Collaboration & Professional Development:

  • Work closely with Senior Associates and Managers to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

  • Receive training and mentorship to enhance technical accounting knowledge.

  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the accounting team.

  • Support the implementation of accounting procedures and policies.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.

  • Pursuing ACCA Level would be an asset. 

Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in accounting or audit, preferably in an accounting or professional services firm.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage).

  • Familiarity with financial statement preparation and tax compliance.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and best practices.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

  • Client-service oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
