The Accounting Assistant is responsible for maintaining the AP sub-ledgers: from data entry of creditor invoices, payments and reconciliations to monitoring of purchase orders, receipt of goods into inventory and preparation of reports.

Job Summary: 

We are actively recruiting a highly organized and dedicated individual to fulfill the role of Accounting & Admin Assistant.  Being an SME the Accounting & Admin Assistant works in close communication with all senior team leads.   Serious minded applicants will have a proven track record of performance and commitment.

The Accounting Assistant is responsible for maintaining the AP sub-ledgers: from data entry of creditor invoices, payments and reconciliations to monitoring of purchase orders, receipt of goods into inventory and preparation of reports. Only suitably qualified and serious applicants will be considered.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Verifying and processing of all purchase vouchers from general expenses, inventory, quotations to orders and payment exercising alertness and diligence.
  • Monthly evaluation of payables listing to ensure that outstanding balances due are settled in a timely manner. Also, reconcile unpaid balances and request statements from vendors to confirm outstanding amounts.
  • Updating various spreadsheets, General Ledger and bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with inventory control, Stock investigation and adjustments.
  • Preparation of bank instructions for ACH, Wire Transactions and other disbursements and payments.
  • Preparation of costings and allocations for landed costs, updating shipment files.
  • Preparation of routine and ad hoc reports and formatting of report documents, presentations and other correspondence.
  • Meet the demands of the job in a professional and timely manner.
  • Maintain integrity and confidentiality.
  • Assist in the development and design of artwork for brochures, social media etc.
  • Filing of invoices and administrative reports.
  • Special projects as requested.

 Qualifications/Education and Experience Requirements

  • Level II CIMA/ACCA
  • A minimum of 4 years accounting experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel 
  • Working knowledge of accounting software

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


•             Sound understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles and procedures
•             Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
•             High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

•             Proficient in MS Office Suite

•             Effective communication (both written and verbal) is essential
•             Ability to reconcile accounts and cope in a dynamic environment

•             Excellent penmanship and business/report writing skills
•             Ability to perform detailed work involving written or numeric data, and to make arithmetic calculations accurately

•             Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with other employees and the general public
