Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Group Corporate Communications team in the capacity of:
Accounting Officer - Sagicor Foundation (Contract)
Monitor key internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets and the assets of its stakeholders.
Ensure that all financial transactions are recorded and that the financial statements and ledgers reflect the true financial condition of the Sagicor Foundation.
Analyse and reconcile all applicable sub-ledgers.
Location: Kingston
As an Accounting Officer, you will:
- Assist the Finance Manager in maintaining an accurate general ledger for the Sagicor Foundation specifically, the Sigma Run Charity event.
- Prepare monthly Financial Statements.
- Analyse, reconcile, and monitor the various general ledger accounts ensuring timely clearing of balances and prepare the relevant schedules and submit for review monthly.
- Prepare daily bank reconciliations.
- Liaise with Sigma Secretariat and support teams to ensure items are cleared from reconciliation.
- Assist the Financial Analyst with the preparation of year-end Financial Statements.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of monthly and quarterly reports to the Management and Board.
- Prepare audit schedules and reports for year-end Financial Statements.
- Follow-up with donors, sponsors and registrants who have outstanding payments for the Sagicor Sigma Run.
- Perform other job-related duties assigned from time to time.
What do you need?
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or the successful completion of the ACCA Level II qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
- Minimum of three (3) years' working experience in accountancy at the clerical or supervisory level.
- Experience working in a Bank or Life Insurance Company or Financial institution would be an asset.
- Knowledge of preparation of routine IFRS compliant financial statements.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and tax law.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Sound knowledge of computer software packages including spreadsheets and word processing.
- Demonstrate skills in prioritizing and time management.
