We're hiring an Accounting Officer
We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Officer to oversee payroll operations, manage financial transactions, and ensure adherence to financial policies and statutory obligations. This role involves processing contractor and employee payroll, maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial reports. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of meeting strict deadlines.
Process and verify payroll data, including regular hours, overtime, deductions (loans, advances, retentions), and tax levies.
Ensure accuracy in contractor payments via bank transfers or cheque issuance.
Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, ensuring timely adjustments.
Maintain payroll records and reconcile accounts to financial systems.
Collect and validate payroll-related data, such as incentives, deductions, and leave balances.
Execute payroll processing for salaried employees while ensuring compliance with local regulations.
Generate payslips and statutory deduction reports for distribution.
Prepare and submit payroll reports for reconciliation and compliance purposes.
Monitor and manage company cheque inventory, ensuring timely procurement and usage tracking.
Process vendor payments, bank transfers, and other financial transactions.
Reconcile bank records, investigate discrepancies, and manage financial reporting.
Oversee petty cash transactions, ensuring proper documentation and allocations.
Track and reconcile company credit card expenditures, ensuring accurate job-specific reporting.
Prepare and upload payments for recurring and ad hoc financial obligations, including taxes and levies.
Experience: Minimum of five years in payroll and accounts payable, ideally in the construction or related industry.
Technical Expertise: Proficiency in financial software such as SAGE and QuickBooks.
Attention to Detail: Strong reconciliation skills with a commitment to accuracy.
Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive financial information with integrity.
Time Management: Excellent organizational skills to meet tight deadlines.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Previous experience managing payroll within the construction sector.
Knowledge of local tax laws and payroll regulations.
Professional certification in accounting, finance, or payroll management is an asset.
