Accounting Assistant - Payables
JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION: Accounting Assistant - Payables
LOCATION: Chaguaramas (Remote work is possible)
SALARY: $6,500.00 (Negotiable)
REPORTS TO: Assistant Accountant
SCOPE To ensure proper record and accuracy of bills monthly and timely payments within creditor terms
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounts Payable
· Check Invoice and Purchase Orders for accuracy.
· Upload PO’s from Planergy to Peachtree daily.
· Ensure all data entry of supplier’s invoices are entered on a timely basis.
· Monitor and maintained accounts age payables.
· Applying payments to AP invoices once payment is made.
· Email remittances to suppliers after each payment.
· Perform bank, suppliers and general ledger reconciliations.
· Process all foreign and local accounts payable.
· Download invoices and preparation of Digicel, Flow & TSTT charges.
· Process ACH, cheque payments, wire transfer and bank drafts.
· Posting of journal entries for prepayment and accruals.
· Perform inter-company data entries, reconciliation and payments.
· Maintain historical records through an efficient filing system.
· Reimburse petty cash by recording entry, verifying documentation.
· Assist in the monthly inventory stock counts.
· Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
· Any other related responsibilities/tasks as required by management in achieving the company’s goals and objectives.

· Maintain a safety conscious attitude at all times
· Ensure that adequate information is provided for completing tasks and seek clarification as required
· Inform supervisor of all unsafe conditions observed and the occurrence of incidents or accidents
· Securing, inspecting and using assigned PPE, tools and equipment appropriately
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
· Knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of general accounting
· Strong written and verbal skills
· Must be self-motivated and have initiative.
· Ability to work in fast paced environment
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
· ACCA Level 1 completed.
· Computer knowledge and/or experience required.
· Knowledge of Sage Peachtree Software will be an asset.
· Two years minimum experience required.
GENERAL 1. Hours of Work
The normal hours of work are from 8.00a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays with one (1) hour's break for lunch normally between 12.00 noon and 1.00 p.m. Because of the nature of employment, the employee will be required to work outside of these normal working hours as and when the occasion arises.
2. Allocation of Time
It is the employee's personal responsibility, within the framework of the tasks he/she has been set, to ensure that his/her time is distributed between tasks in the most advantageous way to the overall benefit of the Company.
3. Customer Relations
The employee is to communicate effectively with customers at all levels, so as to ensure that the Company's image is always protected and maintained at the highest possible level.
