The Accounting Assistant will provide essential support to the finance department by performing various accounting tasks, including maintaining financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with preparing financial reports.

Job Overview:

The Accounting Assistant will provide essential support to the finance department by performing various accounting tasks, including maintaining financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with preparing financial reports. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Accounts Payable:
    • Process vendor invoices and ensure proper coding to the general ledger.
    • Ensure timely payment of bills and communicate with vendors regarding any discrepancies or payment issues.
    • Prepare and maintain a schedule of upcoming bills and payments.
  2. General Ledger & Reconciliation:
    • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings.
    • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial accounts.
    • Record journal entries and update financial records as needed.
  3. Financial Reporting:
    • Assist in preparing internal financial reports, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
    • Support the preparation of reports for external audits and tax filings.
  4. Data Entry and Documentation:
    • Enter financial data accurately into accounting software or spreadsheets.
    • Maintain organized and accurate records of financial transactions.
    • File and archive financial documents for easy retrieval.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
    • CAT/FIA Accounting Technician
    • Level 1 ACCA
  • Experience:
    • 1–3 years of experience in an accounting or finance role preferred.
    • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Peachtree, SAGE 50, Microsoft Excel) and basic accounting principles.
  • Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Basic knowledge of payroll and tax regulations is a plus.
