The incumbent performs routine accounting work by applying modern accounting principles and techniques to a variety of recording and accounting matters in a timely and accurate manner so that the General Ledger can provide real-time, accurate data to support financial and management reports.

 

Accounting Assistant

The incumbent performs routine accounting work by applying modern accounting principles and techniques to a variety of recording and accounting matters in a timely and accurate manner so that the General Ledger can provide real-time, accurate data to support financial and management reports.

MAIN DUTIES

  • Prepare bank reconciliation and investigate all reconciling items thereby ensuring all approved adjustments are made in the current period;
  • Review sub ledger for all debit and long outstanding balances and investigate.                
  • Review and reconcile local and foreign customer statements.
  • Review General Ledger (GL) account for any unusual balances and investigate;
  • Prepare schedule and investigate all reconciling balances thereby ensuring all approved adjustments are made in the current period;
  • Reconcile General Ledger (GL) balance to remittance before payments are made and investigate any differences and adjust accordingly;
  • Prepare costing weekly;
  • Update and obtain explanations for variances;
  • Prepare monthly commission analysis;
  • Process and prepare pay slips for Gaston and Helpers (bread and snack cake);
  • Reconcile deductions with regards to statutory payments on billing to payroll reports and forward for payment;
  • Book gross pay and all statutory deductions in Gaston;
  • Attend stock counts and compile when required;
  • Actively promote, support and comply with Kiss Baking Company Limited’s established Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and industry best practices;
  • Performs any other job-related duties as directed by Supervisor/Manager.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Level Two (2) ACCA or Degree in Accounting
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in accounting/finance environment.
