Do you have ACCA or CIMA? We are looking for an accounting professional with strong analytical and organizational skills with a keen eye for detail to join our Finance Department on contract for one year. Only applicants who have completed ACCA or CIMA will be considered for shortlisting.

 

Postion Summary

The person in this position will report to the Chief Financial Officer.  He/She will assist and prepare financial statements and accounting schedules for the years to be audited. This is a contractual position.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reconcile the Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP) and Inventory sub-ledgers to the General Ledger (GL).
  • Prepare Financial Statements for the respective years ended 30th September.
  • Prepare audit adjustment journals.
  • Prepare and send out confirmations for a sample of both customer and vendors.  Follow up on responses for Confirmations.
  • Prepare Management's provision for bad debt workings and Reconciliation of the provision for bad debt.
  • Confirm write offs of receivable balances.  Prepare Schedules and a detailed listing of all other receivables.
  • Prepare Management workings for the inventory obsolescence provision. Calculate costing computation for the inventory.
  • Provide supporting documentation to validate any taxation recoverable balances.
  • Complete an accurate Property, Plant and Equipment (PPE) register.  Reconcile the PPE register to GL. Provide a listing of all PPE additions and disposals. Compute gains/losses arising from the disposal of PPE. Calculate Depreciation. Obtain external valuation reports in relation to PPE for the respective financial years.
  • Reconcile Development cost. Provide a detailed listing of all development costs for the periods ended. Provide amortization workings for the development cost for the respective financial years.
  • Complete Accumulated surplus/deficit reconciliation.
  • Prepare inputs for Annual returns.
  • Prepare any write backs of accounts payables. Provide a detailed listing of accruals and all other payables.
  • Compute Royalties expense and Schedule of royalties payable. Provide supporting documentation for all royalty payments made. Confirm Royalty payable with the Ministry.
  • Provide management's workings to support the environmental rehabilitation liability. Compute the environmental rehabilitation balance.
  • Prepare sales invoices register for the respective Financial Years. Reconcile the sales invoice register to the sales GL accounts.
  • Provide a detailed listing of all credit notes issued the respective Financial Years. Provide a detailed listing of all manual journals recorded in the sales GL accounts. Produce Schedules to support the various categories of cost of sales. Reconcile the inventory cost of sales expense. 
  • Reconcile the Payroll register to GL.
  • Provide all supporting documents requested by the external auditors inclusive of BIR and NIS receipts.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skill and Experience
  • AACA or CIMA certified or an equivalent professional degree programme. Only Applicants who have completed ACCA or CIMA will  be shortlisted.
  • Five (5) years’ working experience in an accounting environment at a senior level
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Sound working knowledge and hands on experience with accounting software.
  • Sound working knowledge and application of International Accounting Standards.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
