The Accountant is responsible for the preparation of the company's monthly management accounts for parent and other group companies in addition to providing support in the day to day operations of the finance department.

POSITION PROFILE

The ACCOUNTANT is responsible for the preparation of the company's Monthly Management Accounts, Management of Accounts Receivables and also provides support to the General Manager in making strategic decisions.

 

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide direction and assistance to other organizational units regarding accounting and budgeting policies and procedures, and the efficient control and utilization of financial resources.
  • Lead the annual preparation of Budget and strategic forecasts and the consolidation of the Group budget. 
  • Participate in developing, monitoring and evaluating corporate strategy with emphasis on bottom line performance and enhancing shareholder value while advising on the financial implications of strategic initiatives.
  • Co-ordinate the annual external financial audit and prepare Audited Financial Statements for submission to the Board and Regulators within due dates.
  • Design and implement efficiency and cost management strategies for the Financial Group
  • Be fully in touch with global market, regulatory and taxation developments to put in place pragmatic initiatives that manage compliance risks and drive revenue growth.
  • Ensure taxation planning and compliance across the Financial Group.
  • Provide support to the Financial Group on potential mergers and acquisition activity.
  • Conduct coaching, performance development and performance appraisal discussions periodically with team.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in preparing reports and presentations
  • Organizational skills - demonstrates efficiency of execution
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to interact credibly and comfortably at all levels.
  • Ability to multitask and think ‘outside the box’
  • Detailed oriented and with strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Proven ability to understand key financial and business variables in a complex and changing environment
  • Good Leadership and people management skills
  • Advanced knowledge and proven ability in the use of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and financial software applications is required
  • Teamwork – works collaboratively

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • ACCA Qualified or Equivalent
  • 5-8 years’ experience at a Senior Managerial Level in Accounting, Financial Management.
  • Manufacturing background a plus
  • Experience in external audit at a senior level is desirable
  • Advance MS Office Suites
