The Health Authority of Anguilla was established through the Health Authority of Anguilla Act, 2003 by the Governor in Council on December 3, 2003.
This Act provides for the Health Authority to take responsibility for the provision and effective management of primary care (at 5 clinics), secondary care (the Princess Alexandra Hospital)and the Miriam Gumbs Senior Citizens’ Home.
Fundamental principles:
Client centeredness: the extent to which outcome of all activities has impacted positively on the client; clients must be consulted.
Equity: the extent to which all persons must have a right to quality care regardless of age, gender, economic capacity and religious belief.
Access: the extent towhich all have a right to access to such care. The Government / Ministry must ensure ease of access.
Solidarity: the extent to which those who can afford to pay should do so in order to permit provision of care to those who cannot afford.
Conduct a complete psychiatric assessment of all assigned or referred patients and develop an appropriate management plan for the patients evaluated.
