GRENADA DISTILLERS LIMITED:
The largest rum distillery on the island, Grenada Distillers Limited, formerly Grenada Sugar Factory, was founded in 1937 and reorganized in 2001. The main brand, Clarke’s Court, market leader on the island, was named after a bay, near to the distillery in Woodlands Valley, in the southern part of the island; which was surrounded by abundant fields of sugarcane.
The owners, proud of their premium products, are determined to maintain their high standards. This includes the continual expansion of the product range with white, dark, matured rums and liqueurs, enhanced with local fruits and spices.
Food safety management is a priority on the agenda for this growing rum distillery. Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) Certification was the target and Team GDL worked hard towards obtaining HACCP Certification in mid-2013. This paved the way for Grenada Distillers Limited, which produces twenty one products for local, regional and international distribution, to seek certification to ISO 22000:2005, the pinnacle of its achievements in 2017.
