Our client is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor to oversee day-to-day activities, manage inventory, and lead a team of warehouse staff.

Role Description:

Our client is looking for a dedicated and experienced Warehouse Supervisor to supervise and coordinate daily warehousing activities within their company. The Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring efficient receipt, storage, and protection of inventory, as well as maintaining the integrity of the stock control system. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 Responsible for effectively and efficiently overseeing the warehouse and in-plant deliveries, including the following tasks:

  • Receives production plant orders, monitors the stock levels of raw materials in the warehouse, tanks and liaises with the Plant Manager on scheduled production output, schedules deliveries to achieve the timely delivery of raw materials and to minimize delays and stock-outs;
  • Notifies the production plant in case of delays/problems with raw materials and expedites delivery as soon as possible.
  • Ensures the receival, storage, and rotation of raw materials in the allocated areas to facilitate the first-in/ first-out policy;
  • Ensures the storage of goods in safe, secure, hygienic, and optimal temperature conditions to maintain the established quality standards of products; ensures that the warehouse is properly secured.
  • Ensures the maintenance of a safe clean work environment.
  • Investigates any overages or shortages and takes corrective action, as necessary; ensures the accurate conduct of the weekly and monthly stock counts, reconciling all discrepancies.
  • Conducts daily/weekly/monthly cycle counts and explains all variances.
  • Determines and implements approved methods to improve the efficient operations of the warehouse in conjunction with the Warehouse Manager.

Supports the implementation of food safety and quality programmes in the Warehouse and any other programmes and policies necessary to improve and sustain high standards of efficiency, effectiveness, product quality, and service excellence.

  • Allocates tasks to reporting staff, on a daily basis;
  • Maintains harmonious labour relations in the warehouse in accordance with company policy, the collective agreement, and sound labour management practices, laws, and regulations.
  • Notifies the Warehouse manager of all labor-related issues arising.
  • Maintains discipline in the warehouse and enforces company policy and regulations; ensures that time cards are punched and monitors attendance and punctuality;
  • Approves time cards for weekly-paid employees;
  • Trains and coaches reporting staff; keeps staff fully informed on company matters; facilitates their growth and development, provides performance feedback regularly; handles grievances and disciplinary matters in an effective and equitable manner; and ensures effective communications with reporting staff.
  • Conduct appraisals for reporting staff.

Assists in other job-related activities that may arise in periods of non-production.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Business Studies/ Economics/ Management/Inventory Management or a related field, PLUS five to six (5-6) years' work experience in a related position or field; OR
  • An equivalent of 10 years or more work experience in a similar field may be considered.
  • Certificate in Supervisory Management from a recognized institution OR five (5) years' supervisory experience.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in warehouse management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
