Provision of veterinary services to Newport Mills Limited (Nutramix), Copperwood Farms Ltd (Newport Genetics), and commercial customers. This position will be responsible for consultation with export customers and farmers.

Main Function:

Provision of veterinary services to Newport Mills Limited (Nutramix), Copperwood Farms Ltd (Newport Genetics), and commercial customers. This position will be responsible for consultation with export customers and farmers.

Provision of consultation with customers and farmers as a livestock support specialist.

  • Assist the technical sales team to include a mix of training workshops/seminars on topics including good agricultural practices, biosecurity, animal health and production for local and regional farmers highlighting the product value and food safety.
  • Provide veterinary consultations and advice to livestock farmers. Investigate and solve herd health management/disease problems that arise among the      company’s livestock customers.
  • Draft, compose and edit livestock manuals to assist with the extension program.
  • Prepare presentations for training workshops.
  • Required to work alongside other team members and develop tools and approaches to assist farmers improve their production and productivity.
  • Audit semen depot locations to ensure appropriate storage conditions and assist with sales.

 

Food Safety/ Quality Management Systems

  • Ensure that medicated feeds are being used in compliance with certified ISO/HACCP/GMP programs and regulations.
  • Advise the QMS/HACCP team of issues of animal health and welfare.

Export 

  • If needed, liaise with Caribbean and extra regional government officials on matters related to trade and the sanitary requirements for the export of feed, semen and animals to Caribbean islands and other countries.
  • Provide veterinary consultations and advice to livestock farmers and farm store owners within the Caribbean region. Investigate and solve herd health management/disease problems.
  • Conduct training, workshops, seminars in support of export customers and livestock farmers.
  • Other keys roles may/will be added throughout employment

Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, Experience

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM)
  • Further degrees and clinical training in the area of livestock production is preferred.
  • Training in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs); Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs)
  • Training in ISO 9001:2008, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
  • Greater than 5 years’ experience in the combined Livestock and Agro – industries.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to prepare and implement strategic plans and projects.
  • Possess excellent presentation skills needed for training and presentations for various groups – sizes and demographics.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
