Massy Wood is currently recruiting for a Tool Store Clerk with significant experience in the oil and gas industry.

 

Overview / Responsibilites

 

The Tool Stores Clerk is responsible for the management and maintenance of small tools, including powered and pneumatic tools, as well as welding consumables. This role requires an organized and detail-oriented individual to ensure that tools and consumables are efficiently managed, tracked, and available to support operations. The Tool Stores Clerk plays a vital role in maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring tool functionality, and contributing to a safe and efficient work environment.

 

Tool and Equipment Management:

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all small tools (powered, pneumatic, and manual) in the tool stores.
  • Inspect, clean, and perform basic maintenance checks on tools before and after use to ensure they are safe and operational.
  • Coordinate the repair and recertification of tools as needed, ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Welding Consumables Management:
  • Manage inventory levels of welding consumables such as electrodes, wires, and gases.
  • Issue welding consumables to workers as required and keep accurate records of usage.
  • Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams to reorder welding consumables to prevent stockouts.

 

Inventory Tracking and Control:

  • Accurately record tool and consumable issuances and returns using the company’s inventory management system.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and stock checks to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Investigate and report any discrepancies or missing items to the supervisor.

 

Documentation and Record Keeping:

  • Maintain up-to-date records of all tools and welding consumables, including their condition, repair history, and usage.
  • Generate and maintain reports on tool utilization, inventory levels, and any non-compliance or issues encountered.
  • Ensure all documentation is compliant with company policies and audit requirements.

 

Customer Service:

  • Assist employees and contractors with the issuance and return of tools and consumables in a timely manner.
  • Provide guidance on the correct usage and safety requirements of tools when necessary.
  • Address any questions or issues raised by employees or supervisors regarding tool and consumable availability.

 

Health, Safety, and Compliance:

  • Follow and enforce health and safety guidelines related to tool usage and storage.
  • Ensure that all tools and equipment are stored securely and comply with safety and operational standards.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to stay informed about workplace safety requirements.

 

Qualifications

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical training or certification in inventory management is an asset.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a similar role, preferably within a warehouse, manufacturing, or construction environment.
  • Familiarity with powered and pneumatic tools, as well as welding consumables, is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Proficient in using inventory management systems and basic computer skills (e.g., MS Office Suite).
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards related to tool storage and handling.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in a warehouse environment, including standing for extended periods and performing physical tasks as needed.
