Job Summary

 

Effectively manages the operations of the Debtors’ Unit to ensure timely collection of all monies due to the Board.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

1)    Monitors debtors’ balances for all agents.

 

2)    Ensures compliance with the approved Credit Policy.

 

3)    Ensures corrective action is taken when monies are not deposited to the designated agent accounts or otherwise remitted to the Board on a timely basis.  Corrective action is as authorized by the company’s approved Credit Policy.

 

4)    Negotiates and documents commercially economic arrangements for repayment of amounts due by agents, as approved by the Financial Comptroller and Director.

 

5)    Promptly investigates agent queries of indebtedness and/or outstanding balances and ensures that adjustments and/or other corrective action are taken to ensure accuracy of agents’ records.  Performs other reconciliations as required.

 

6)    Liaises with the credit collection agencies, the legal firms and NLCB’s Legal Department to ensure agent accounts are actioned timely.

 

7)    Advises on any provisions that may be required for doubtful amounts in the preparation of the financial statements.

 

8)    Co-ordinates the workflow and manages the staff of the Debtors’ Unit.

 

9)    Ensures the staff is properly equipped and trained to efficiently perform their duties.

 

10) Provides comprehensive, timely and accurate reports on the performance of the Unit and the agents debt to the Financial Comptroller.

 

11) Attends regularly scheduled meetings with the Financial Comptroller, the Manager-Online Games and any other persons as required.

 

12) Performs any other duties as may be required from time to time to ensure proper and efficient functioning of the Unit.

 

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skill and Abilities 

  • Completed Level II ACCA or a Degree in Business Management or the equivalent.
  • Three (3) years working experience in managing debtors with at least two (2) years supervisory experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Familiarity with the use of financial accounting software.
  • Excellent negotiation skills, written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commercial acumen.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
