Audits Daily Processes of the Plant’s Technicians, bottling plant Operators, Floor staff, Engineering Personnel, Supervisory staff, Warehouse staff, Blending and Brewing Personnel as appropriate.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  • Audit, record and check the pasteurizer temperature settings and P.U.’s – Hourly and record same date and time.
  • Audit, record and check Blended liquid product during processing for pH., colour, Total acidity, brix, colour, taste and record same with date, time, Batch number.
  • Monitoring  bottled production for clarity, CO2, air, Cap torque, Crown crimping, fill height and volume etc
  • Monitoring packaged production for missing labels, label positions, coding, and final packaging.
  • Monitoring the concentrations of C.I.P. solutions. – As required for Bottling Production
  • Verify process water analyses of incoming water -Plant, Brewing and Blending, water softener, boiler checks and record same with date and time.
  • Monitoring incoming Raw Water quality.  By batches/truck loads
  • Routine Quality Control analysis on Brewing and stock and rotate as necessary the Bottling materials (raw material and incoming packaging testing)
  • Recording and Maintaining Quality Control log books.
  • Generating simple weekly (or as required) graphs/charts /reports on Quality Control checks done.
  • Maintaining Lab records in a paper and electronic file, methods of analyses, standards etc., digitally and hard copy binder.
  • Maintains, calibrates, and performs verification test on laboratory equipment and recommends corrective action when required.
  •  Maintains the organization and sanitation of the quality control lab and manufacturing areas (e.g. Wine Line) as guided by the company’s Good Manufacturing Practices and other implemented standards.
  • Conducts all duties in accordance with the Company’s HSE policy and procedures.
  • Performs any other related duties required by the job function.
  • During bottling quality checks – do inspection check every hour on all finished product during production at:

               - Filler / Crowner

              - Sleever / Labeler

              - Case Packer

  • Record / Report any low fills; Wrong / missing prints in log sheet attached:

               -            BBE date

               -            Sleeve missing

               -            Sleeve placed incorrectly

               -            Missing crowns

               -            Missing bottle in case

 

GENERAL DUTIES 

Ensures compliance regarding the following:

  • Quality Management System.
  • Food safety
  • Health, Safety & Environmental Management System

Fulfill legal obligation with regards to Occupational Safety & Health requirements as stipulated in the OSH Act 2004 as an employee. 

REPORTS

  • Daily reports on all inspection liquid / batch QC checks done and logging of same.
  • Daily reports on all inspection done during bottling and logging of same.
  • Provide weekly report on all irregularities / non-conforming products.
  • Provide a monthly report on all improvements you suggest to avoid non-conforming product.

EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS

  • Liaise with external consultants who may visit from time to time, when required.
  • Seek quotes as necessary for lab equipment, consumables.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma or BSc in Analytical Chemistry or Biochemistry
  • Experience in HACCP or FSSC 22,000 Plant Hygiene
  •  QC/QA Lab training
  • At least two (2) years’ experience as a QC/QA Lab Technician in a Manufacturing Environment.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of minimum requirement.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite program and other relevant software.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
