Project STAR is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to assist in assessing business ideas, preparing participants for running successful businesses, monitoring, bringing them into the financial network & teaching sound financial practices to assist in poverty alleviation.
The Senior Entrepreneurship & Financial Inclusion Officer will work with the Social Transformation & Renewal Foundation participants to assist in assessing business ideas, preparing participants for running successful businesses, monitoring, bringing them into the financial network & teaching sound financial practices to assist in poverty alleviation. This will require clear communication, innovation, monitoring methodologies, report writing &delivery of training & workshops.
The specific duties include:
∙ Develop strategies to attract new participants & partners;
∙ Identify new business opportunities to expand the range of options for participants;
∙ Identify, assess applicants, understand their needs & challenges, evaluate proposed project, provide support & resources, determine appropriate grant amounts;
∙ Develop & deliver training programs, workshops, mentoring sessions to help aspiring micro-entrepreneurs develop essential business skills, such as business planning, financial management, marketing & customer service;
∙ Manage relationships & follow up on actions & tasks to ensure the success of the participants;
∙ Prepare project information via various audio-visual methods ensuring creativity & quality, such as power points, social media artwork etc.
∙ Educate participants about financial management
∙ Administer projects via progress reports
∙ Conduct research to support areas of focus
∙ Manage relationships & follow up on actions & tasks to ensure the success of the participants
∙ Design, develop & implement initiatives to promote financial inclusion focused on the specific needs & barriers faced by the underserved or marginalized participants of STAR communities
∙ Develop & deliver training programs, workshops, mentoring sessions to help aspiring micro-entrepreneurs develop essential business skills, such as business planning, financial management, marketing & customer service
∙ Provide training to programme participants on business development & financial inclusion
∙ Facilitate access to microfinance institutions, government programs or other sources of funding & capital who lack sufficient financial resources to start or expand their businesses
∙ Collaborate with financial institutions, NGOS & government agencies to promote inclusive financial practices
Qualifications:
∙ First degree in business or relevant field with at least three years of practical experience.
∙ Experience in project management is a plus.
∙ Knowledge of educational and scholastic principles and practices.
∙ Strong interpersonal and communication skills, empathy and compassion.
∙ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
∙ Proficiency in data collection and analysis.
∙ Proficiency in office software applications.
∙ Cultural sensitivities and an understanding of the specific needs of the communities served.
