The incumbent is responsible for providing first-line technical support to staff on application related issues and the development and maintenance of in-house applications using best in class technologies.

 
 We are a small but dynamic, industry-leading Group of Companies specialising in Credit & Risk within the Financial Services Sector
 
Duties and Responsibilities 
 
The job incumbent must possess sound technical IT knowledge as well as a broad company perspective in order to perform the following duties successfully:
 
    • Provide first line technical support for application related IT issues, including but not limited to answering questions and assisting in resolving problems regarding the correct usage of applications.
    • Develop and provide proactive maintenance of in-house software applications and interfaces to optimise and ensure performance and stability.
    • Monitor and test software applications to ensure that potential problems are proactively resolved where possible, systems are up to date and ensure that problems beyond competence are advanced to appropriate parties.
    • Perform data analysis, management, identification, maintenance and extract in support of business information reporting, investigations and implementation of solutions.
    • Work with software vendors to evaluate, select and deploy applications to provide solutions to corporate issues and improve overall efficiency.
    • Ensure that all software applications employ best in class security systems to deter and minimise the theft or otherwise  unauthorised access to corporate data.
    • Develop training guides and facilitate training of staff on proper usage of software applications.
    • Perform procedural documentation of IT systems/information and assists with the maintenance and updating of existing documentation, including user guides and system inventories.
    • Assist with monitoring and testing of the Company's backup and disaster recovery systems.
    • Assist with the evaluation, testing, implementation and rollout of technology across the organisation.
    • Utilise Help Desk management software to document and track issues reported and prepare reports as required
    Perform other duties that may be assigned. 
 
Education and Experience 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or related field from a recognised, accredited institution
  • An equivalent mix of Industry Certification and Experience would be considered.
  • A minimum of 1 year relevant industry experience in a similar capacity, including data analysis, implementation, management and operation of software applications
  • Experience working in an environment managed by Help Desk Management Software
  • Strong working knowledge of PHP version 7, HTML, CSS & Javascript
  • Working knowledge of relational databases particularly MySql (Maria DB)
  • Experience in developing applications using Phalcon PHP (MVC framework), jQuery & Bootstrap or similar libraries would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining python2 / python3 scripts and programs would be considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with linux based operating systems would be considered an asset.Excellent interpersonal and team orientation skills

  • Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language to non-technical staff and end users
  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills
