Senior Accountant – Retail Operations (Negril)

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Accountant to oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting functions of our retail operations in Negril, Jamaica.

Location:  Negril, Jamaica

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of business structures and Jamaican tax laws and will be responsible for ensuring compliance 

with all statutory requirements while leading the accounting team to maintain accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and manage all daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, preparing monthly and quarterly financial statements for management review.
• Monitor cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting to ensure smooth financial operations.
• Prepare and submit statutory reports in compliance with Jamaican tax laws, including GCT (General Consumption Tax), payroll taxes, and corporate income tax.
• Collaborate with external auditors and tax authorities to ensure compliance and accuracy in all tax-related matters.
• Review and implement accounting policies and procedures to optimize efficiency and maintain internal controls.
• Assist with financial planning, analysis, and strategic decision-making to support the business’s growth and profitability.
• Liaise with banks, regulatory bodies, and suppliers to manage financial transactions and resolve issues.
• Ensure accurate inventory management and costing for retail products.
• Maintain knowledge of retail industry trends and advise on their impact on accounting practices.

 Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional certification ACCA – min level 2 is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior role, preferably in the retail sector.
• Strong knowledge of Jamaican tax laws, business structures, and statutory requirements.
• Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
