SANITATION SUPERVISOR

Continental Baking Company is seeking to recruit a Sanitation Supervisor, who will be responsible for managing and overseeing its sanitation programme, ensuring a clean, safe and hygienic environment within and throughout the Company’s operations.  The ideal candidate plays a critical role in the preservation and maintenance of product and facility standards, through effective and robust sanitation protocols and policies.

Core Functions

  • Perform daily inspections of the manufacturing facility, ensuring that the facility has been cleaned and sanitized, in accordance with the Company’s standards, procedures and policies and regulatory agency requirements (GMP, OSHA, FSMA/FDA, Bureau of Standards Jamaica, etc.); report any irregularities.
  • Inspect the manufacturing process to determine sanitation protocols; implement corrective actions to ensure compliance with regulatory authorities.
  • In collaboration with the Operational Managers, develop, design and implement sanitation policies, protocols, SOPs and specific training for sanitation.
  • Coordinate and monitor the cleaning schedules; create and distribute work schedules for sanitation contractors.
  • Train sanitation workers and establish documentation systems/records of tasks assigned and acceptable quality or standard of work for each sanitation duty.
  • Coordinate and oversee the services of contractors and external cleaning crews.
  • Monitor the preparation and use of cleaning chemicals; review all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for every chemical used within the sanitation portfolio and ensure a formal and documented process of training on their use is in effect, for all workers assigned to the sanitation team.
  • Ensure that there is an adequate supply and availability of tools, chemicals and equipment for the cleaning and sanitation team.
  • In conjunction with the Plant’s Maintenance Managers, develop sanitation procedures for new and existing equipment; recommend changes or process improvements as needed.
  • Works with the respective departments and teams, to ensure compliance with all food safety and audit requirements and protocol.
  • Ensure full adherence to and compliance with all safety (food and physical), quality, environmental, regulatory standards and protocols.
Minimum Requirement: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Public Health, Production and Operations Management, Food Processing or its equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar position within a food manufacturing company/facility.
  • Detailed knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and systems.
  • Experience in a bakery would be an asset.
  • Expert knowledge of GMP, HACCP, FSSC standards and practices.
  • Highly professional, ethical and of integrity.
  • Required to work on shifts, weekends and public holidays, to meet operational demands.
