The Sales Representative is responsible for servicing all accounts within the assigned territory to maximize profitability, distribution, and volume sales. The role involves making customers aware of the products distributed by the Company and consistently generating sales.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and develop relationships with existing and new customers through appropriate propositions and ethical sales methods as prescribed by the Company to optimize quality of service, business growth, and customer satisfaction.
  • Visits assigned customers in adherence to agreed customer call plan, ensuring regular servicing of all accounts.
  • Executes collections of funds as per the company guidelines and POCA restrictions.
  • Ensures the Accounts receivables of the assigned customers are maintained in accordance with guidelines/current.
  • Manages the Company’s portfolio of products in accounts in order to ensure appropriate stock levels via thorough inventory counts, monitoring stock rotations, and identification and minimization of bad goods.
  • Follows up and communicates to relevant back office support regarding the delivery of products to customers as per customer request and Company guidelines. Reconciles customer problems and provides ongoing after sales support; liaising with back-office support departments as necessary and required
  • Ensure that product knowledge on all inventory items is current to enable the proper briefing of customers.
  • Prepares monthly reports of business transactions and activities (including competitive information) in assigned accounts, as per defined format for submission to the Regional Sales Manager.
  • Recommend to customers the ideal quantity and variety of brands to purchase to ensure good shelf display and exposure, and to avoid out-of-stock events.
  • Ensure all cash collected from customers is picked up by security courier service within 24 hours, and all cheques are sent into the office by Friday of each week of collection.
  • Develop and maintain rapport with customers, building loyalty and encouraging feedback on the competition.
  • Participate in sales/marketing events such as seminars, trade shows, and promotions, which will be held from time to time.
  • Monitor and report on activities in the marketplace and provide relevant information to support the planning of marketing and sales strategies.
  • Monitor displays of the Company’s products in assigned outlets and report any abnormalities to the Merchandising Supervisor and Regional Sales Manager.
  • Monitor and manage the quality and consistency of product and service delivery within the trade.
  • Occasionally conduct market research and investigate potential manufacturers of third-party products for the Company.

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

Your performance will be assessed by the degree of success achieved in meeting the objectives outlined above and demonstrating or executing the following to include:

 

  1. Partner with customers to ensure maximum distribution of the company’s product portfolio.
  2. Execute sales strategies to ensure target achievement. Please note your minimum acceptable performance will be 80% of assigned target. Should your performance go below 80% for three (3) consecutive months or your overall achievement within a six (6) month period fall below 80% you will be placed on a PIP where your suitability for continued employment is dependent on a successful review throughout the period of the PIP.
  3. Manage product shelf life to prevent bad goods write offs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma/Associate Degree in Marketing &/or Business Administration
  • Experience in Field Sales
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills

  • Excellent Time Management, Customer Service Skills and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Excellent people skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Must be able to function independently and handle a variety of responsibilities under pressure.
  • Must own a reliable motor vehicle and possess a valid driver licence.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Liaises with Customers, Sales Representatives, Marketing, Customer Service Representatives, Warehouse personnel and Managers.
