Research Assistant

To provide the necessary research and administrative support to the Business Development team for all activities within the department.

Position Identification

Job Summary 

To provide the necessary research and administrative support to the Business Development team for all activities within the department. The individual will report directly to the Business Development Manager.

Business Development with day-to-day activities coordinated and administered by the Business Development Manager, and BD Project Leaders. These activities will be based on the department's work plan activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Conduct research to support development of growth projects aligned with approved corporate growth strategy, as required by the BD and summarize/document findings, inclusive of research of economic, infrastructural and marketing data.
2. Provide support to the BD team as required for the various growth projects.
3. Research and preliminary due diligence on potential counterparties to BD’s growth projects in North America, Caribbean and Latin America.
4. Research into LPG market players across the Caribbean, Latin America. Prepare Company profiles on target stakeholders.
5. Research the Energy Regulatory environment with focus on LPG for various territories across the Caribbean and Latin America.
6. Data collection and input for creation / maintenance of an LPG database.
7. Assist to research, collect and compile relevant data for the LPG value chain analysis in the Caribbean and Latin American Region.
8. Attend BMD project meetings.
9. Prepare reports, documentation and presentations as required.
10. Provide administrative reporting support to Phoenix Park Energy Marketing LLC (USA) operations periodically.
11. Conduct necessary research for any Country Risk Assessment (CRA) required.

Job Specifications

Minimum Acceptable Academic Qualifications and Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering or any Business-related field including Economics, Accounting or Management, from a recognized educational institution.  Related working experience will be considered an asset.

Specific Skills and Knowledge

• Very good communication skills
• Adequate understanding of the energy sector and the relevant terminology
• Adequate understanding of PPGPL's systems
• Good inter-personal and analytical skills
• Proficient in Microsoft applications, such as MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
