Payroll Officer (FMG/AT 3): Salary Scale: $1,550,136.00 - $2,084,761.00 per annum

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager, Accounts Payables and Payroll, the incumbent is responsible for the preparation of the fortnightly and Monthly salaries, preparing monthly On and Off Control and maintains proper record in accordance with the relevant Acts and policy guidelines. The incumbent is also responsible for preparing the annual Wage Bill Report and the filing of Annual Returns.

MAIN FUNCTIONS

  • Salaries computed;
  • Salary adjustment book updated for monthly and Fortnightly staff;
  • Payroll Proforma and Registers produced;
  • Deduction reports produced;
  • Pay slips produced;
  • Payroll records, registers, and files maintained;
  • Salary cards updated;
  • Annual return information researched;
  • Salary payment vouchers prepared;
  • Salary e-payment created and submitted for upload to Bank Accounts;
  • Accounting records properly secured and filed;
  • Verify that all blank cheques leaves and receipt issued in relevant registers are in accordance with Government policy;
  • Verify data submitted for payroll processing to ensure correctness;
  • Liaison with Tax administration officers regarding annual returns;
  • Research and prepare letters for staff in relation to NHT.

  • Good knowledge of accounting principles, standards and techniques;
  • Proficiency in the relevant computer skills including payroll applications;
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting principles and practices including the FAA Act

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Certificate in Accounting or Management or Business Administration from a recognized Institution; OR
  • CAT or AAT level A and1 respectively; OR
  • Any other equivalent accounting management professional qualification; OR
  • Completion of revised certificate in Government Accounting Course; plus
  • Two (2) years experience in the related field, plus
  • Experience in Government payroll computation and Administration.
