We are seeking a Network Administrator who will develop, operate and maintain the Group/Business Unit’s network and technology infrastructure, standards, specifications, and equipment; inclusive of computers, servers, and telecommunications and networking equipment, and to assist the Group’s team of ICT staff in these areas so as to ensure the achievement of established corporate objectives and user satisfaction. Efforts include assistance at the geographic location and all other business units of the Group.
KEY DUTIES
Included among the responsibilities of the role are: -
- Provide support to all Business Units with respect to resolving issues with their ICT network and infrastructure (including PBXs, LANs, WANs, video conferencing, security solutions, and any device or application connected to the network).
- Monitor, maintain, upgrade and operate the Group’s network and infrastructure equipment and systems
- Liaise with suppliers of network and infrastructure equipment, infrastructure services, and system software concerning maintenance, upgrade, and purchases as it pertains to the Group’s network.
- To provide reports (monthly, weekly) to the IT Manager and Group IT Executive as to Network status, as well as other reports as determined.
- Develop, recommend, and implement policies, systems, plans and programmes so as to ensure the achievement of established corporate objectives.
- Keep abreast of ICT developments and make recommendations to management on any relevant purchases to be planned or those beneficial to developments in the ICT industry.
- Provide technical advice, guidance, support/assistance and on the job training for system users and relevant Group ICT Team members so as to facilitate the achievement of established objectives and satisfy approved standards and specifications.
- Document all issues or incidents re the network and infrastructure, and their resolution.
- Develop and maintain documentation on the company’s networks and infrastructure.
- Make recommendations on the training required for users in supporting the networks and infrastructure installed.
DESIRED BACKGROUND/SKILLS
The incumbent should possess:
- An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field, with a minimum of one (1) years’ experience.
- Sound theoretical and practical knowledge of information and communications technology (ICT) policies, practices and procedures with special reference to ICT infrastructure, networks, and architecture, options and solutions, as well as related business applications.
- An understanding of the institutional, governmental and regulatory framework in which computer systems are operated.
- Analytical and diagnostic ability.
- Interpersonal and communicative skills.
- Sound interpretative judgment, leading to decision making based on facts and in alignment with business needs.
- An appreciation of the general principles and practices of business management.
- Negotiating skills and the capacity to influence others to follow appropriate courses of action.
