NATIONAL FINANCE ADVISOR

 

The National Finance Advisor guides the National Director and Board of Directors regarding the financial and accounting management of the National Association.  This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The National Finance Advisor works closely with the National Director, Village Directors and other departments to support the organization's mission of providing a loving home for every child by providing sound financial guidance.  

  

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA or other relevant professional certification preferred
  • Proven experience as a Finance Manager, preferably in a nonprofit or charity organization
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial management, and reporting
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
  • Knowledge of Dynamics NAV/D365 would be an asset
  • Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
  • Ability to understand and communicate in Spanish would be an asset

 

 Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a transparent management of the financial and material resources and  verification of the accuracy in the accounting procedures in compliance with the standards of SOS Kinderdorf International;
  • Develop and implement financial plans, budgets, and forecasts in collaboration with department heads;
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide recommendations for cost reduction, funding enhancement, and overall financial efficiency;
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal and external stakeholders;
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial reports.  
  • Monitor and manage the association’s budget, ensuring adherence to approved financial plans.
  • Collaborate with Village Directors and department heads to track expenses and analyze budget variances.
  • Oversee cash flow, making recommendations for adjustments as needed;
  • Manage banking relationships and optimize cash management strategies;
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and legal requirements;
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks by implementing appropriate internal control;
  • Coordinate and support external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations;
  • Implement audit recommendations to improve financial processes and controls.
