Mechanical Technician / Service Technician

Position: Mechanical Technician / Service Technician


Location: 2 Maclean Drive, Retrench Village, San Fernando (or as required)


Job Type: Permanent


Salary: Discussed during the interview process


Reports To: Director or assigned representative


 

Key Details


  • Primary Roles: Offshore and Onshore  Mechanical Technician
  • Minimum Experience: 3 years in diesel / gas industrial engines and small engine repairs
  • Qualifications: M.E.E.T, Technical Trade Diploma in the Mechanical field.
  • Valid TBOSIET certification and Offshore medical


Role Overview


The Mechanical/ Service Technician serves as the key technical resource focusing on preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and problem resolution for diesel and gas operated industrial mechanical equipment. Three to five years of experience working with rotating equipment in an offshore and onshore environment, including small engine repairs.

 


Responsibilities

  • Ensure the mechanical maintenance of equipment and power systems is carried out in a safe and effective manner.
  • Perform and record mechanical maintenance activities as required by the client’s planned maintenance system.
  • Carry out fault finding and diagnosis of problems affecting power systems taking corrective actions to anticipate and prevent downtime.
  • Perform breakdown repairs whenever required. Show initiative in identifying opportunities to improve machinery performance.
  • Prepare and submit requirements for spare parts and proposals for modifications based on client’s job.
  • Assist with modifications and new equipment installation, investigating and resolving equipment running faults.
  • Input to the monitoring of Health, Safety and Environmental performance targets. Monitor against these targets and propose actions to achieve these.
  • Participate in/carry out risk assessment exercises and participate/lead team toolbox talks as appropriate.
  • Regularly review and comply with safe work systems and maintenance procedures.
  • Workshop and warehouse upkeep and housekeeping.
  • Assist in product demonstrations. Assembly of new equipment.
  • Maintenance and upkeep of company surroundings and exterior surroundings.
  • Vehicle care and maintenance.
  • Any other task as requested by Management.

Required Skills & Qualifications


  • Personal Requirements:
    • Attention to detail with strong hands on mechanical troubleshooting skills.
    • Valid driver’s permit and access to a personal vehicle.
    • Customer-oriented, honest, trustworthy, and able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Mechanical Engineering Technicians Certificate.
    • 3-5 years of experience working with diesel and gas industrial engines.
