Manager Finance

The Manager, Finance will be responsible for ensuring that the company’s financial reporting is thorough, accurate and timely in respect of internal and external reporting requirements. Areas of financial management include (but are not limited to) budgeting, development and maintenance of accounting and administrative systems, direction of daily financial activities, information preparation and dissemination and implementation of internal controls.

 

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitors the company’s finances / cash flows for new business, operational expenses and debt service obligations
  • Prepares all budgets and financial presentations
  • Verifies and signs off all journal entries, reconciliations or reports completed by the staff within the Finance Department
  • Verifies that the General Ledger is reconciled monthly, and all outstanding items are clear accurately
  • Supports the management of the company’s financial assets in collaboration with the Treasury department
  • Provides support in the effective, efficient, and fully compliant operations of the Finance Department               
  • Monitors the effective recording of all key processes, ledgers and logs within the Finance Department
  • Works on special projects relevant to the company’s finance function as part of the project team      
  • Assists the Chief Financial Officer in the management of the external audit
  • Verifies that all transactions completed by the finance team are properly supported and accounted for accurately
  • Supports risk mitigation efforts associated with the company’s finance function         
  • Reporting          
  • Leads the financial reporting efforts of the company   Reviews and provides reports on cash flow management.
  • Maintains appropriate record keeping as determined by company law, regulatory requirements and requests of external audiences
  • Works with the CFO to provide financial information and reports to Shareholders, Regulators, Rating Agencies and other external parties
  • Supports the preparation of the Annual Financial Statements
  • in accordance with the IFRS standards, including all disclosure notes, people              
  • Reviews and approves work, conducts performance appraisals, provides guidance and feedback in the execution of day-to-day duties
  • Manages outputs by assigning, reviewing and approving work submitted by staff within the Finance department
  • Provides coaching and mentoring to staff by offering feedback, advice, and guidance to help employees develop
  • Facilitates the execution of work by requesting resources for staff
  • Assesses staff performance by preparing, reviewing and approving appraisals
  • Recommends and implements staff developmental and training plans
  • Manages Relationships with External Stakeholders
  • Verifies receipt and distribution of payments to Third Party Business Partners, Business Associates, and Customers       
  • Delivers strategic advice, support, and recommendations to enable informed decision making and strategy development
  • Recommends and implements approved policies, guidelines and program changes which may bear upon financial objectives due to changes in the external environment and other areas as relevant to the Finance Department
  • Prepares/assist with the preparation of recommendations for submission to the Board and Board Committees for strategic/business plan objectives for the Finance Department oversees audits performed by the internal audit department for the Finance Department ensuring that findings are addressed in a timely and comprehensive manner to achieve improvement in internal controls.
  • The Manager, Finance, assigns and reviews work, creates work schedules, provides guidance, feedback and training for accounting staff.

H. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Post graduate degree in Accounting or Finance or a related professional qualification, ACCA, CA or CMA

 

Experience

  • A minimum of eight to ten years' experience in a similar managerial position
  • Knowledge and Skills Extensive / Expert knowledge of generally accepted auditing and accounting standards including international financial reporting standards
  • Substantial / In depth knowledge of the financial services industry, including key support & executive systems, major financial & regulatory practices, best practices & competitive conditions
  • Substantial / In depth knowledge of the T&T Housing Act
  • Substantial / In depth knowledge of Treasury management, banking products & services, interest rate regime, investment opportunities
  • Substantial / In depth knowledge of Company’s business, products and the competitive framework of the industry

 

Extensive / Expert analytical skills

  • Substantial / In depth ability to assist in the development of processes & systems for implementing Finance Strategy
  • Substantial / In depth ability to display adaptability, business know-how, dependability, integrity and self-motivation
  • Substantial / In depth ability to communicate goals, objectives & ideas clearly & consistently to staff members
  • Substantial / In depth ability to persuade, convince and influence opinions and extract proper decisions from subordinates
  • Substantial / In depth computer proficiency, with in-depth knowledge of Microsoft office suite of products
  • Substantial / In depth verbal and written communication skills
  • Substantial / In depth leadership and people management skills
  • High sense and level of discretion, integrity, and ethics
