POSITION SUMMARY/OVERVIEW 

The position is responsible for providing effective, results oriented leadership across the assigned merged parishes thus ensuring a consistently high level of service is provided to customers.  The incumbent is responsibility to provide leadership to Distribution Operations departments within the assigned parishes to ensure consistent and continuous improvement in customer satisfaction. The incumbent is also responsible for the development and execution of technical solutions as well as managing and monitoring the quality of service provided to customers. 

Additionally, the incumbent is responsible to be the company’s key parish liaison personnel with major stake holders within assigned parishes, ensuring the harmonious and cohesive relations with the company and the various stake holders. 

EDUCATION/SPECIALIZED TECHNIQUES

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification
  2. Critical skills in relation to time management, communications, and commercial activities including terms and conditions of sales and services.
  3. Excellent customer relations and negotiating skills.
  4. Training in Operations Management.
  5. Training in collections and revenue management.
  6. Leadership and human resource management skills. 

EXPERIENCE/LEARNED DISCIPLINES 

  1. Minimum Five (5) years in Engineering line management
  2. Strategic thinking with demonstrated analytical/planning and organizing skills
  3. Strong communication, interpersonal and people management skills
  4. Effective and timely management of customer issues
  5. Results orientated with the view to developing sound engineering and or commercial solutions as required
  6. Knowledge of power distribution systems and services including in depth understanding of the company's switching and safety procedures
  7. Experience in conducting enquiries and investigations
  8. In depth understanding of the policies and procedures governing billing, collections and other related commercial activities
  9. Experience in dealing with customers/customer related issues in a large commercial organization

MAJOR TASKS/DUTIES 

  1. Guides the development of an operations and maintenance (O&M) plan in line with regional strategic objectives to maximize customer satisfaction while ensuring alignment and compliance with established regulatory guidelines
  2. Provides technical leadership to minimize downtime and maintain highest service levels within assigned parishes
  3. Develops strategies to improve system reliability and reduce customer downtime 
  4. Owns the assigned parishes O&M plan and is responsible for managing associated technical and business risks throughout the assigned parishes
  5. Analyzes operational performance and financial reports and take immediate corrective action   as required
  6. Complies with and enforces company policies and procedures.
  7. Reviews status reports and addresses issues
  8. Routinely undertake training needs analysis and develop requisite training plan for team members
  9. Reviews and recommends assigned parishes budget for approval.
  10. Monitors and controls the availability of resources necessary for assigned parish operations.
  11. Guides and assists Operation Managers on the optimum and efficient use of company resources
  12. Develops and maintains communication channel among the various functional groups within the assigned parish
  13. Devises systems to enhance the performance of portfolio departments in order to strengthen the company's overall financial viability
  14. Reviews departmental plans and objectives
  15. Monitors the status of portfolio parish' disaster preparedness procedures/plans
  16. Approves stores requisitions, work orders etc. when applicable
