The Assistant Laundry Manager will play a key role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of our laundry departments and work closely with the Manager and Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of the laundry.

Summary

The Laundry Assistant Manager will play a key role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of our laundry departments and work closely with the Manager and Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of the laundry. The Assistant Manager is expected to maintain high standards of cleanliness, efficiency and possess strong organizational skills to contribute to the smooth functioning of the laundry department.

Key Duties and Expectations

  • Assist the Manager and Supervisor in planning and organizing the daily operations of the laundry departments to meet the needs of customers.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels for laundry supplies and equipment and coordinate with the Manager for timely replenishment.
  • Ensure that all laundry equipment is in good working condition and coordinate with staff to address daily cleaning routines and schedules of workspaces and machines.
  • Ensure enforcement of proper laundry procedures, including sorting, washing, drying, folding and pressing to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Perform inspection of the laundry processes to ensure quality control and resolve any issues derived from same.
  • Ensure Front Office departments maintain quality customer service standards.
  • Respond appropriately to customer feedback and resolves conflicts in handling customer queries to ensure customers receive a high standard of service.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports of laundry productivity, inventory levels maintenance, sales and expenses to submit to Management.
  • Ensure that the turn-around time for product delivery is achieved to ensure that customers receive service that exceed their expectations.
  • Actively generate leads to increase client base.
  • Measure and report on the performance of lead generating activities against established targets.
  • Processing transactions on the point of sale software.
  • Reconciling the drawer at beginning and end of the business day.
  • Respond appropriately to equipment breakdowns.
  • Perform regular visual inspection of all equipment and initiate preventative and corrective maintenance procedures Inform Managing Director of equipment and production problems in a timely manner.
  • Identify needs that might require external suppliers/contractors and oversee all work done by external suppliers/contractors.
  • Hands-on and Ensures all installations/repairs are executed with minimal or no disruption to operations and maintain accurate records of same.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and manage the security of the facilities and grounds including safety related operations activities.
  • Ensure adherence to laundry’s operating policies and operating hours of the laundry.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by Management.

Employee Relations

  • Engage in staff recruitment, training, discipline and motivating staff.
  • Maintain excellent relationships across various departments, building trust and a reputation for exceptional integrity and professionalism.
  • Conduct monthly line meetings to address questions and concerns.
  • Seek the advice of Management to remediate concerns and or issues raised with/by employee(s) and obtain approval from the Managing Director prior to implementation of remediation steps.

Reporting

  • Provide Daily Productivity and Revenue reports to the Managing Director via email
  • Provide monthly expenses.
  • Prepare weekly wages for employees and maintain proper and accurate records of same.
  • Prepare monthly Statutory Deductions for submission to requisite Governmental bodies.
  • Reporting variances in the cash drawer to Management at the end of each business day and providing reasons for such variances.

 

General Qualification Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Business, Finance or Marketing or the equivalent management experience.
  • At least three (3) years of Supervisory experience with proven experience in a supervisory/managerial role.
  • Class 4 Drivers Permit would be an asset.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts including nights, weekends and holidays as required by the business demands.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and computer skills to maintain records and communicate via email or other digital platforms.
  • Must be able to perform the following minimum physical behaviours periods: standing, walking, lifting, stretching, squatting and performing physical labour as required by the business demands.

  • Excellent written and oral communication and the ability to cope well in a high paced and stress-related environment.
  • Possess strong leadership skills, must be able to motivate and coach team, with a strong sense of integrity.
  • Ability to display a high level of integrity by keeping good on promises; holding self-accountable; and being honest and truthful.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Strong reporting, analytic and problem solving skills.
  • Responsible and trustworthy.

 

Remuneration - TT$6,000 plus $1,000 allowance.
