Kitchen Steward - Handyman Aide

KITCHEN STEWARD - HANDYMAN HELPER

 

SUMMARY:  Responsible for the cleaning/ upkeep of all equipment, and assist with cleaning dishes, pots, pans, glassware and utensils within unit. Must follow company directed guidelines for sanitation and cleanliness and perform the following duties:

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Retrieve ingredients from refrigerator, freezer and stockroom as per chef’s instructions
  • Remove expired or spoiled ingredients from refrigerators, freezer and storage areas
  • Responsible for quality, sanitation and waste prevention through best practices. Makes suggestions to eliminate waste where and when necessary.
  • Stocks all glassware/plateware/silverware as cleaned.
  • Maintains a clean workstation and assists in overall kitchen cleanliness.  Assists in the stocking of all stations as directed and cleans/closes all stations as directed.
  • Restocks and/or breaks down workstation at the conclusion of the shift.
  • Assists kitchen staff with prep work.                                                                                     
  • Notifies chef/manager/supervisor of low inventory and recommends new inventory and communicates opportunities/concerns/situations. 
  • Assists management in training new staff members within their department when applicable.
  • Demonstrates core values of company every shift.
  • Maintains high-level of knowledge regarding the company’s products and happenings.
  • Performs basic tasks of upkeeping related to AC, electricity, refrigeration and plumbing.
  • Cross trains on prep stations and assist those co-workers when needed to meet guest satisfaction.
  • Understands and utilizes all safety and sanitation practices as defined in the safety program and reports any accidents to management.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures as established in the Staff Member Handbook.


QUALIFICATIONS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Must be 18 years of age or older. Basic training in handyman duties like AC, refrigeration, electricity, and plumbing. 

REGULAR ATTENDANCE is required and expected.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Industrial High school graduate preferred; One-year minimum small repairs experience.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENCES, REGISTRATIONS:  Health permit/food safety card. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Must be able to communicate with fellow staff members to facilitate teamwork and superior guest service.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, percentages, ratios, decimals and proportions to practical situations
