Senior Corporate Manager - Private Equity

The incumbent is responsible for driving the growth of the JMMB Group’s private equity business line, within the context of JMMB’s Group overall long term vision and strategy.

SCOPE OF JOB:

• Responsible for driving the growth of the JMMB Group’s private equity business line, within the context of JMMB’s Group overall long term vision and strategy.
• Oversees all aspects of the JMMB Group’s private equity investment strategy, portfolio management, stakeholder reporting.
• Responsible for the build out, development and coaching of a high performing, entrepreneurially-minded team in alignment with JMMB’s Vision of Love
• Supports the CEO, JMMB Investments in the thrust for assessing, establishing and implementing new business lines and product offerings that are in keeping with the Group’s strategic direction
• Responsible for the development of strategies to effectively collaborate with related entities and departments within the JMMB Group (e.g. JMMB Investments’ retail and corporate clients, Capital markets team, JMMB Fund Managers etc.) to increase market share and other relevant KPI’s
• Develops and maintains relationships with key internal and external stakeholders toward the development, implementation and ongoing management of JMMBSL’s efforts over Marketing, Public Relations & Business Development.

IMMEDIATE REPORTEES:

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Strategic Leadership: Leads the JMMB Group’s private equity investment strategy, including the developing and implementing budgetary plans, developing business cases for new business lines or products.
• Deal Sourcing and Due Diligence: Lead the sourcing and evaluation of potential private equity investment opportunities, conducting thorough due diligence, financial analysis, and risk assessment. Instruct and manage relationships with external due diligence partners from time to time (e.g. attorneys, accountants etc.).
• Transaction Analysis: Lead the financial analysis of investment opportunities to include conducting valuations, building models to develop company projections, establishing investment return targets.
• Negotiation & Transaction Structuring: Lead the negotiation and structuring of private equity transaction terms on behalf of JMMB SL and any of the private equity investment vehicles that it may manage.
• Portfolio Management: Oversee the management of all private equity portfolio companies, including monitoring performance, optimizing investments, and ensuring alignment with JMMB SL’s investment return and risk objectives. Maintain and manage relationships with the key executives of each portfolio company.
• Team Management: Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of private equity professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support to maintain high engagement and achieve team goals.
• Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with the business community, industry partners, investment professionals, and key stakeholders to source deals, co-investments, and strategic partnerships.
• Managed Investment Vehicles: Serves as the key responsible officer in relation to all private equity investment vehicles where JMMB SL acts as the Investment Manager. This includes presenting to and liaising with the respective boards of each such investment vehicle as well as with investors in such vehicles.
• Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure that all private equity investments adhere to all regulatory, compliance and risk management guidelines that may exist.
• Reporting and Communication: Providing appropriate regular and timely reports and updates on the performance and progress of the private equity portfolio to (1) Chief Country Officer, JMMB Jamaica (2) The Board of Directors, JMMB SL (3) The board of directors of all private equity investment vehicles managed by JMMB SL (4) investors in each of the private equity investment vehicles managed by JMMB SL.
• Fundraising: Collaborate with the fundraising team to secure capital for private equity investments and/or investment vehicles, ensuring alignment with investor expectations.
• Brand Visibility: Responsible for collaborating with internal (e.g. Marketing Department) and external stakeholders to build the JMMB brand visibility in Jamaica by engaging in community and industry programmes and activities.
• Industry Research: Conducts industry research and keeps abreast of industry events to proactively identify trends and opportunities that the Company can transform into new business lines, new products and/or new services

EDUCATION, TRAINING & WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• MBA, M.Sc. in Finance or CFA
• Minimum of 10 years in Financing or Capital markets with at least 5 years in a senior position

• Specialized knowledge in Securities, Treasury Management, Equities and International Capital Markets
• Excellent communication and leadership skills

• Licensed by the Financial Services Commission or other appropriate regulator, or a suitable candidate for licensing.
• Expert knowledge of job related regulations and laws (financial sector laws, Money Laundering, Companies Act, Pension Regulations etc.)
• Excellent planning and organizational skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to provide leadership & motivate a diverse team of individuals
• High level of proficiency in the use of computers, particularly spreadsheets and modelling software with working knowledge of presentation programmes and equipment.
