Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following position of Administrative Assistant (Internal Audit Department).

Salary Range: $1,935,907.00 - $2,603,580.00

OBJECTIVES/SUMMARY OF POSITION

Under the general direction of the Chief Audit Executive, the Administrative Assistant is required to organize, monitor, and execute administrative and clerical duties pertaining to the operations of the Internal Audit Department; ensure records are filed; accordingly, responses and reports are accurately typed and ready for review by the Chief Audit Executive; assists in the conduct of audits by gathering, organizing, and analyzing data as instructed by the Chief Audit Executive.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  • Interprets and conducts assignments given by the Chief Audit Executive.
  • Conducts reviews of personnel and payroll files for the payment of gratuities, arrears, final payments, vacation pay, or such other relevant payments.
  • Assists with gathering, organising, and analysing financial and accounting data for audit purposes.
  • Liaises with internal and external clients regarding pre and post audit issues.
  • Ensures that working papers are properly prepared and submitted for review.
  • Clear any queries on working papers prepared.
  • Assists with preparation of draft reports.
  • Ensures security of audit file

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENT:

  • Associate degree preferably in Accounts, Finance, Business Administration, Management or Economics; or
  • Level 3 Certificate in Government Accounting.
  • Two (2) years of related experience.
  • Secretarial/clerical experience would be an asset.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH JOB / WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Required to travel to external sites in the performance of official duties.
  • Typical working environment
  • Work beyond the normal hours is required from time to time.
  • Island wide travelling from time to time.

  • Excellent integrity and ethics exercised in performance of duties.
  • Good research and analytical skills
  • Good knowledge of government administration systems, laws and policies and other instructions governing both the financial and operational aspects of the Tourism Ministry and its agencies – such as the Staff orders, Public Service Regulations, Procurement Guidelines, FAA Act.
  • Fair knowledge of accounting and auditing standards, principles, and practice
  • Fair knowledge of current auditing techniques.
  • Good planning and organising skills.
  • Must be able to use relevant computer programmes and Microsoft Office Suite
