The Pharmacist is responsible for the timely and accurate dispensing of prescription medication and offering expert guidance on the safe use of treatments. The Pharmacist will also contribute to the development of medicines, and evaluating pharmaceutical care by conducting research studies
Main Function:
· To receive, fill, compound and dispense veterinary pharmaceuticals
· Create operating systems for the daily activities of pharmacy
· Provision of consultation with customers and farmers
· Prepare and maintains all necessary records
· Assist with planning for livestock projects
Duties and Responsibilities include:
· Facilitate sale and distribution of medication, semen and dairy equipment
· Maintaining stock levels by placing orders in a timely fashion
· Participate in end of month stock inventory counts and provide monthly report
· Research medications/vaccines available and suppliers
· Facilitate registration of new medication with Ministry of Health
· Manages dispensing of medication by compounding, packaging, and labelling pharmaceuticals
· Communicate with Veterinary personnel regrading treatment protocols
· Required to work alongside other team members and develop tools and approaches to assist farmers improve their production and productivity
· Provide input for livestock manuals to assist with the rural extension program
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, Experience
· Diploma / Associates Degree/ Pharmacy degree
· Fully registered Pharmacist with a valid license to practice issued the Pharmacy Council of Jamaica
· Training in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs); Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs); ISO 9001:2008, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
· Experience in Livestock and Agro - industries is a plus
