Job Summary

The Director (Markets) will develop and pursue marketing and business opportunities for Barbados in the related markets, in line with the annual strategic plan and objectives of the organisation.

 

Duties and Responsibilities Summary

  • Develop and execute innovative strategies, capable of maintaining existing markets and penetrating new markets within the assigned jurisdictions.
  • Identify marketing opportunities and new project developments in the related market.
  • Provide the necessary leadership, management, and motivation to deliver the results projected in the annual marketing plan as per the objectives of the organisation and overall strategic plan.
  • Identify and interpret market trends and analyse current market performance and market intelligence and cascade into the annual business plan.
  • Formulate annual market strategy and plan for related markets, supported by comprehensive budgets and appropriate quantitative targets.
  • Identify the resources required to implement the marketing plan, secure and allocate them appropriately to achieve the required objectives.
  • Oversee implementation of the annual marketing and sales plan and seek to maximise partnership opportunities with suitable industry partners. Plan and supervise annual marketing promotions.
  • Ensure that all marketing activities reflect and comply with the Brand requirements and liaise closely with Advertising and PR Agencies to implement marketing programmes.
  • Implement mechanisms for measuring the impact of marketing campaigns and apply the results to inform future marketing planning.
  • Deliver the annual marketing plan for the related markets.
  • Manage and allocate appropriate budgets to implement the marketing plan and ensure the most cost-effective deployment of resources.
  • Contribute to ongoing strategic development.
  • Represent the organisation in the relevant markets.
  • Lead negotiations with third parties.
  • Any other related duties that may be assigned from time to time.

 

Required Skills

  • Masters degree in Business, Management or Marketing, Public Relations or a relevant discipline with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a Marketing or Corporate Communications environment
  • Proven expertise in the formation and design of strategic marketing initiatives.
  • Outstanding marketing experience in an international environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and communications skills.
  • Strong leadership and organizational capabilities, solid negotiating skills and a track record of ability to close deals.
  • Highly computer literate with a good understanding of e-marketing systems.
  • Fluency in languages primarily Spanish and French.
  • Good understanding of government policy priorities and issues affecting tourism.
  • A wide range of senior and executive level professional contacts.
