Internal Auditor
The Students’ Loan Bureau (SLB) invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the following position:
Internal Audit Officer (Grade 4A)
The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in conducting special assignments and reviews as directed by the Internal Audit Manager related to operational, financial and information systems audit functions of the Bureau to support corporate governance and strengthen internal controls.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Conducts special assignments and reviews as directed by the Internal Audit Manager within budgeted time allocations in keeping with the quality compliance standards of the organization on the following areas: Financial, Operational, Personnel Audits, General/Special Review, Information Systems and Technology.
- Keeps abreast of trends in industry, regulatory and standard setting bodies and makes recommendations for implementations, where applicable to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Bureau.
- Performs data mining and analysis to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of internal controls.
- Assists with gathering information on key business risks to facilitate the development of audit strategies and performance standards for auditors.
- Provides draft reports as necessary, after completion of assignments, to Team Leader or Internal Audit Manager.
- Identifies opportunities for improving risk management, internal control and governance processes.
- Assists in the analysis of data obtained for evidence of deficiencies in controls, duplication of efforts, extravagance, fraud or lack of compliance with laws, government regulations and management policies and procedures.
- Assists in conducting periodic follow up.
- Performs any other related duties assigned to assist in the smooth running of the department.
Qualifications and Experience
A First Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Management Studies or any equivalent qualification.
Specific Knowledge
Knowledge of
- general auditing/accounting principles, practices, procedures and techniques.
- local financial and economic environment
- organizational systems design and development
- general procurement regulations and practices
- analytical tools/software and other relevant computer software
Skills, Behaviours and Competencies Required
- Proficiency in the use of computer application software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Ability to monitor compliance with the Bureau’s policy and procedures at all levels
- Capability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all departments.

Remuneration Package
- Basic Salary $2,803,771.00 - $3,770,760.00
